I am from Colombia, South America (sometimes people ask if it is Columbia, SC, thus the clarification), and I have been a translator for over 30 years now. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Colorado School of Mines in Colorado, and then pursued Master’s Studies in Polymer Chemistry at San Jose State University in California. I lived, worked as a chemist and translator, and studied for many years in the French-speaking part of Switzerland.
My primary interests—besides my passion for languages—are in science, chemistry and medicine. Nonetheless, being a full-time single mother, I couldn’t indulge myself by following those intellectual interests, and still be available to my children. I decided then to bring my passions together and create something wonderful, so I returned to the USA with my Swiss-born children and founded Adarve Translations.
I provide medical and dental translations. I am also a certified translator who specializes in technical and scientific translations, thanks to my expertise in matters scientific, though general translations are also part of my portfolio. I possess background understanding of historical, political, cultural, social and psychological conditions, all of which allows me to be excellent at my work.
I can provide translations to meet the needs of dental or medical billings, and I can also provide technical translations of detailed scientific material to a high level. Likewise, I can provide certified and non-certified translations of general documents such as certificates, letters, bulletins, etc.
Lest you think that I always have chemical formulas in my head, or always have my head in a textbook or a translating dictionary, I’m here to tell you that as one of the best translators you can find, I live the life, walk the walk and talk the talk.
Linguistic competency by itself it not enough. I understand the current cultural context and so am able to make accurate translations of technical material, as well as make sense of up-to-the-minute information that comes through on social media.
